Today I'm sharing how to make the best sweet and spicy dry rub, right at home. Packed with a perfect balance of sweet, smoky, and spicy flavors, this rub is a must-try on anything from chicken wings and brisket to your favorite ribs.
Sweet and Spicy Rub Ingredients
- 2 tbsp sugar. You can't have a "sweet & spicy" rub without some sugar.
- 2 tbsp brown sugar. To balance out the spiciness of the jalapeño, while enhancing the natural sweetness of the meat.
- 1 tbsp garlic powder. To complement the sweetness of the sugars and the smokiness of the paprika.
- 2 tbsp sweet paprika. For a unique smoky and slightly sweet flavor.
- 1 tsp onion powder. We love onion flavor in our rubs.
- 1 tsp jalapeño powder. For a nice touch of heat.
- 1 tsp honey powder. For a little more sweetness. (If you don't have it on hand, feel free to skip.)
- 1/4 cup salt. You can't have a BBQ without some salt.
Sweet and Spicy Rub Recipe Instructions
1. Combine all eight ingredients in a large bowl, stirring until well mixed together.
2. Apply liberally all over your favorite BBQ meat.
Storage Tips
- Store rub in a plastic BBQ shaker for up to a month.
