If you like pizza, and you like dips—then you're going to *love* this smoked pizza dip with pepperoni. Yes, it's everything you love about pizza, but in dip form. The cheeses, the sauce, the smoky pepperoni—it's all here.

I love making this dip for a football Sunday or whenever we have people over for a BBQ. It's always such a crowd-pleaser. Not only that, it's super easy to make: just a handful of ingredients, and a little time on the smoker is all you need.

WHAT YOU'LL NEED TO MAKE THIS RECIPE

  • Cream Cheese – Every tasty dip needs cream cheese. I'm using plain cream cheese from my local Popup Bagels.
  • Mozzarella & Parmesan Cheese – I like using mozz and parm together because its a nice balance of gooey melty cheese and saltiness.
  • Pizza Sauce – I picked up some Nature's Promise pizza sauce.
  • Pepperoni – Choose whichever topping you like best. I went with pepperoni and just used some Boar's Head slices.
  • BBQ Rub & Red Pepper Flakes – To season the dip and add just a touch of heat.

HOW TO MAKE SMOKED PIZZA DIP

1. Spread the Cream Cheese Base

Start by spreading softened cream cheese evenly in the bottom of a small cast iron pan.

2. Add a Layer of Mozzarella Cheese

Sprinkle half of the shredded mozzarella cheese over the cream cheese base.

3. Spread the Pizza Sauce

Next, generously spared the pizza sauce evenly over the mozzarella.

4. Add More Mozzarella

Add another layer of mozzarella cheese on top of the pizza sauce.

5. Add the Pepperoni

Finally, add a heaping layer of pepperoni all over the top of the mozzarella.

6. Add the Seasonings

To top off it off, sprinkle the BBQ rub and red pepper flakes on top of the pepperoni.

7. Smoke the Dip

Preheat your smoker to 250°F and place the cast iron pan inside. Let it smoke for about 45 minutes, or until the cheese is melted, bubbling, and golden brown.

8. Serve & Enjoy

Let it cool slightly before serving with toasted bread, pita chips, or garlic knots. Enjoy!

PRO TIPS FOR MAKING THIS RECIPE

  • Want More Toppings? Add cooked sausage, mushrooms, or even olives before smoking.
  • Cheese Swap: Try a mix of cheddar and provolone for a sharper, more complex cheese flavor
  • Crispier Pepperoni? Pop the dip under a broiler for 2-3 minutes after smoking to get that crispy, slightly charred pepperoni top.
  • Best Dippers: Toasted baguette slices, garlic knots, pita chips, or even soft pretzels.
