One of my favorite ways to eat steak is by cooking it on my pellet grill. The steak comes out super tender, smoky, and beefy.
Let's get right to the recipe for smoked steak on the pellet grill.
Pellet Grill Steak Ingredients
- 4 ribeye steaks (1 1/2 inches thick). Feel free to use any steak, but I'm a fan of smoked ribeye, smoked filet mignon, and smoked New York Strip.
- Steak seasoning (2 tbsp). Use your favorite rub, or our homemade steak seasoning.
Steak on the Pellet Grill Recipe Instructions
1. Season your steak
Season your steak liberally on all sides. If you have the time, I also recommend dry-brining your steak for an even more tender bite. Meanwhile, preheat your smoker to 225F.
2. Smoke the steak
Put the steaks on your smoker and cook until they hit an internal temperature of around 125F for a medium rare steak. Make sure to use a meat thermometer to get an accurate reading.
3. Sear the steak
Remove the steaks from the smoker and heat up your gas grill until it reaches 500F. Places your steaks on the grill, and search each side for 2-3 minutes to develop a nice crust on the outside.
4. Rest and serve
Remove the steaks from the grill, and allow them to rest for 5-10 minutes. Then serve and enjoy!
How Long Does it Take to Cook Steak on a Pellet Grill?
It takes 60-90 minutes to cook a steak on a pellet grill. The time will vary based on what temperature you cook at, the cut (and thickness) of your steak, and your desired steak doneness level.
Always use an instant-read meat thermometer to accurately check the temperature of your steak.
