This smoked cheeseburger dip is one of my favorite appetizers to make on the smoker when I'm hosting a BBQ get-together or just having folks over for a big game. It's got all the amazing flavors of your classic smash burger, just in dip-style for everyone to share.

The best part about this recipe—other than it's delicious taste—is how customizable it is. The sauce, the cheese, the veggies: you can use whatever you want. Here's how I like to make mine.
WHAT YOU'LL NEED TO MAKE THIS RECIPE

- Ground Beef – I'm using 80/20 beef to act as the base for the dip.
- Yellow Onion – To be, every good smash burger needs onions, so you know I'm adding onion to the dip.
- Lawry's Seasoning – I'm seasoning the beef and dip with Lawry's, but you can use your favorite BBQ rub or just salt & pepper if you want.
- Velveeta Cheese – I'm a huge fan of using Velveeta in dips like this—it's creamy & melty and mimics American cheese.
- Cheddar Cheese – I'm also using sharp cheddar for an extra cheesy flavor.
- Ketchup & Mayonnaise – This is acting as my "burger sauce" — I'm keeping it super basic with just ketchup & mayo.
- Dill Pickles – I love pickles on my burger, so I'm sprinkling some on top of the dip.
HOW TO MAKE SMOKED CHEESEBURGER DIP
1. Cook the Ground Beef

Heat a pan over medium heat and add your ground beef. Cook until it's well-browned, breaking it up as it cooks. When it's done, remove it with a slotted spoon, leaving the beef grease behind in the pan.
2. Sauté the Onion

In the same skillet, add the diced onion. Cook until they're soft and translucent, about 5 minutes.
3. Combine the Ingredients

Transfer the cooked ground beef and onions to a small cast iron pan. And the Lawry's, Velveeta, shredded cheddar, ketchup, and mayonnaise. Mix everything until the cheese begins to melt and all ingredients are well combined.
4. Smoke the Dip

Add the dip to your smoker and smoke at 350F for 10-15 minutes, or until the cheese is fully melted and bubbling.
5. Serve & Enjoy

Remove the dip from the smoker, and sprinkle with chopped pickles. Serve with potato chips or veggies, and enjoy.
PRO TIPS FOR MAKING THIS RECIPE

- Make it spicier – Add diced jalapeños or some hot sauce for a little kick.
- Add bacon – Crumbled crispy bacon takes this dip to the next level.
- Use different cheeses – Swap cheddar for pepper jack or smoked gouda.
- Make it creamier – Add a little sour cream if you want it extra creamy.
