This smoked hot honey cream cheese is jam-packed with smoky, sweet, and spicy flavors. It's one of my favorite appetizers to make when we're having people over, or for a big game.

The best part? You need just *three* ingredients. And the prep time is less than five minutes. This recipe really is foolproof and you're going to love it.

WHAT YOU'LL NEED TO MAKE THIS RECIPE

  • Cream Cheese — Grab yourself an 8 oz. block of cream cheese. I use the Philadelphia brand, but any will work.
  • BBQ Rub — We're going to season our cream cheese with a sweet BBQ rub. I used Sweet Preacher from Fire & Smoke Society.
  • Hot Honey — We're going to drizzle some Mike’s Hot Honey right on top of the cream cheese and smoke it.

HOW TO MAKE SMOKED HOT HONEY CREAM CHEESE

1. Score the Cream Cheese

Place the cream cheese in a small cast iron or disposable aluminum pan. Take a knife and score the top of the cream cheese in a crosshatch pattern. This will create shallow grooves to help the seasoning adhere.

2. Add the BBQ Rub

Dust the cream cheese all over with your favorite BBQ rub, making sure to hit all sides. Pat the rub in gently so it sticks well to the cream cheese.

3. Add the Hot Honey

Drizzle the hot honey all over the top of the cream cheese. Let it seep into the score lines so it penetrates into the cream cheese for more flavor.

4. Smoke the Cream Cheese

Add the cream cheese to your smoker and smoke it at 225F for about an hour and a half, or until it develops a golden-brown crust with a slightly puffed and creamy texture.

5. Finish with More Hot Honey

Remove the cream cheese from the smoker, and drizzle with more hot honey. Serve warm with some pita chips, crackers, or veggies, and enjoy.

PRO TIPS FOR MAKING THIS RECIPE

  • Choose Your Rub. Sweet and smoky rubs work best for this recipe, but feel free to use your favorite rub here.
  • Foil Tray. Using a foil tray not only simplifies cleanup but also catches all the melted goodness—perfect for dipping.
  • Extra Toppings. Sprinkle on fresh herbs or crumbled bacon for an added layer of flavor and texture.
  • Make It Your Own. Try different hot honeys or infuse your own with chili flakes for a unique twist.
